The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 14th and runs through Sunday, May 20th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 22 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
I will be participating in the Bout of Books readathon taking place May 15 – 20th, which is…next week…. Wait, that can’t be right. Seriously, it’s next week? My how time flies when there is so much to do and read and so little time to do or read.
Of course, in true work life fashion, things have picked up at work and I have been left with no choice but to bring work home with me. It looks like this will carry into next week a little, and I’m hoping it will only be a little so I can have the readathon to actually read.
I may have bit off more than I can chew with the quarterly goal of reaching 80% review rate on NetGalley, and the quarterly TBR I put together. Some of this may be with my priorities as of late, where I just drag my feet, sit down and listen to an audiobook. I could be reading one of the books I said I would read, but instead I’m just sitting there relaxing with an audiobook and can of pop.
I’ve also been hanging with my husband more, we have family night with my Family once a week, and game night which has turned into game day on Saturdays with my sister on ESO – Elder Scrolls Online. I’m using this readathon to re-evaluate priorities.
I want to read, but I also want to write. You need to read to be a better writer, and if you want to review books. It’s really hard to review a book if you haven’t read it. I’m not sure if you’ve tried it, but I can tell you, it’s hard. I mean what do you say about the characters if you never met them?
Ready or not, I’m going to prioritize reading from May 15 – 20th and see where it gets me. This will hopefully help me with my reading goals for the quarter.
