Summary:
To celebrate the rise of their new queen, three goddesses of the moon created three stars, one of fire, one of ice, one of water. But then they fell from the sky, putting the fate of all worlds in danger. And now three women and three men join forces to pick up the pieces….

Mermaid Annika is from the sea, and it is there she must return after her quest to find the stars. New to this world, her purity and beauty are nothing less than breathtaking, along with her graceful athleticism, as her five new friends discovered when they retrieved the fire star.

Now, through space and time, traveler Sawyer King has brought the guardians to the island of Capri, where the water star is hidden. And as he watches Annika in her element, he finds himself drawn to her joyful spirit. But Sawyer knows that if he allows her into his heart, no compass could ever guide him back to solid ground….

And in the darkness, their enemy broods. She lost one star to the guardians, but there is still time for blood to be spilled – the mermaid’s in the water and the traveler’s on the land. For she has forged a dangerous new weapon. Something deadly and unpredictable. Something human.

My Thoughts:
Nora Roberts has done it again, but should we be surprised? Writing this good is what we have come to expect and love her for.

This round we follow Annika and Sawyer more closely than the other four main characters. Their relationship is a little bumpy because Annika is a mermaid and will need to return to the ocean soon. It may even be before their mission of locating all the stars has been completed.

The evil goddess adds to her army, and recruits a human. A human two of the six main characters have a history with, and it’s not a good history. But of course she chooses the human because she needs to be sure the person will be motivated in their quest to stop the guardians from finding all three fallen stars.

Now they are tested not as six strangers, but as six guardians who have formed a team to find the fallen stars. As a team who at the start of this journey didn’t all know of their abilities, or how to use them. They must work together to succeed and all get home safely.

The story is off the charts. I enjoy the way Nora gets us as readers wanting to know what happens, wanting to see the characters complete their goal, and make it out alright. And the romances going on, they aren’t too much, and not too little. I think she puts in just enough for us.

I can’t wait to pick up the final book of the trilogy to see how it all comes together.
