Rez, his friends, and those they were able to save from the King’s Tournament are trying to find safety. In trying to find safety Rez is, in my opinion, playing a great game of chess. He pulls strings to make things happen for an agreement he makes to get those on the ship safety.

Rez is still trying to understand friendships, and why he is pulled to save others. He is still trying to understand who he is, and trying to understand how rules 1 & 2 work. Sometimes I think he’s starting to get it, but then needs to stop and think about something.

I love these characters. And the writing makes you feel like you are there seeing the events as they are happening. I didn’t feel like there was a lot of excitement or adventure in this book. It was more like getting things in line.

If I’m totally honest with you, this is my least favorite book of the series so far; but I still have to give this 5 stars. If that doesn’t say how good these books are, I don’t know what does.
