Kate Daniels #4
NYLA
Narrated by Renee Raudman

Kate Daniels cleans up the paranormal problems no one else wants to deal with – especially if they involve Atlanta’s shapeshifting community.

And now there’s a new player in town – a foe that may be too much for even Kate and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, to handle. Because this time, Kate will be taking on family.

Well this was a bumpy ride.

Kate Daniels and the Beast Lord have an interesting relationship. They’ve been back and forth in the books leading to this one, and are finally working things out…sort of. We get off to a rough start from the beginning. Kate has made the dinner the Beast Lord has requested, but he’s late. Not fashionably late, he’s something like 3 hours late. Kate gets concerned and calls the Keep, but is told he’s not to be disturbed. Of course she goes off at this, and things don’t get resolved for a while.

Kate is investigating a magical being who has apparently become a Mary. Similar to Typhoid Mary, this is a person who has been infected and spread the virus. This investigation gets difficult, and is not made easier by the tension between her and the Beast Lord, and is further complicated by her employment by the Order. I want to say more, but don’t want to spoil things completely. Let’s just say, revelations are made, ideals are discovered, and lot’s will be going down causing you the need to pick your jaw up from the floor.

I very much enjoyed the narration of this book, just as I have the others of the series. Renee Raudman has a way of making each character their own, and this only helps draw you in. The writing is also fantastic. The story isn’t bogged down with descriptions, and any information we need comes across naturally.

Watch for more reviews from this series, hopefully soon, I’m very excited to continue with this series.
