Sunday Post #57: NaNoWriMo

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly over on the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news of what happened in your life, what’s coming up on your blog, or recap posts shared.

I wasn’t going to participate this year, then I made some progress with a story idea, and the timing just worked out. So, here we are in preptober, and I decided just a week or so ago to participate in NaNoWriMo.

For those who don’t know, preptober is the name NaNos use to describe October. It is the month where they get snacks, meal prep, but most importantly, think about the story they are going to try to write in the month of November. We sit down and outline the story, characters, settings, maybe create mood boards, or just salivate over the idea, let it kind of stew over low heat. They also announce their novels over on the NaNo website.

Then in the month of November, it is NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month, and it’s all hands to the keyboards. The struggle is on to write 15,000 words in the story before 11:59pm on November 30.

I’ve never come close to the 50,000 goal, but I’ve fallen prey to the urges to just sit and relax with a book, or watching YouTube videos, or doing work stuff. I’m really going to focus on prioritizing writing this round. This also means hitting work hard so I’m not bringing much of it home.

Now off to finish my outline. Good luck to all participating in NaNoWriMo!
